Here’s a handy tip when you are remodelling your home. One of the easiest ways to jazz up your interior spaces is by letting in plenty of natural daylight and combine that with a monochromatic colour scheme. Take a look at what it can do for this apartment in Stockholm, designed by Studio Frederica.
The master bedroom is decked in a dark grey tone, but because of the amount of daylight flooding the space the room looks cosy yet spacious. Notice how care was taken to hold back from letting other colours stand out in this space.
The dramatic effect created by cloaking the entire room in a standard shade is enhanced by just the tiniest pops of cream and pink.
In the dining area, the contrast of black and white help to make the room look more formal and imposing. This is a great idea if you want to create a more atmospheric mood in your dining zone without cutting it off totally from the rest of the living room.
Clear white walls in the living area are outlined with black skirting. The dedication to keep to the black and white scheme gives this home its ‘wow’ factor.
A black kitchen counter complemented with cabinetry in the same shade adds a touch of stylishness to the cooking zone.
Similarly, black tiles are used to line the bathroom, enhanced with the use of white grouting.
Out on the verandah, the colours help to blend with the environment outside.
Hints of black here and there help to create a harmonious flow from the outside into the rest of the home.
