The homeowner wanted his 1,000sqf, two-bedroom walk-up flat in Jalan Besar to be the opposite of the sterile, white and fluorescent hospital space in which he spends most of his daytime hours in as a doctor. With the help of the designers at Three-D Conceptwerke, he now gets to return everyday and chill in his casual abode rendered in a mellow colour palette of grey, black and white.
In the dining area, the designers capitalised on the flat's high ceilings, using pendant lamps in an attractive teal to draw the eye upwards.
As the homeowner is a cooking enthusiast, the designers extended the kitchen space to make it a third bigger in size, and replaced the dividing solid walls with glass panels.
Along the corridor leading to the bathrooms, the alcove under the building's common staircase was fitted with bookshelves finished with woodgrain laminates from Lamitak.
The bed in the master bedroom was a hand-me-down from his sister. A pole system was chosen for the wardrobe, rather than built-in carpentry, and positioned at opposite sides of the room for an open concept.
Designed by interior design firm Eightytwo, this three-bedroom condo apartment in Upper Serangoon was rendered in three complementary colours, white, brown and grey, that created a calm and restful ambience within.
The balcony was treated as an extension of the living area, and sports the same grey, wood, and white combination of hues.
The study features a nice balance of white and wood. The grey of the seats accent the space.
The master bedroom is kept simple, with just a wall-mounted shelf for display items and an industrial-looking light for adornment.
In the washroom, the colour palette is interpreted in the form of grey mosaics for the walls, with wood tones for the cabinetry and door.
