Sneak peek: Affordable Art Fair 2017 (Autumn Edition)

+

If you missed the eighth Affordable Art Fair in April 2017, the Autumn Edition (happening 17 to 19 November) is another chance for you to check out and buy art. Held once again at the F1 Pit Building, this edition will feature new showcases and an expansion of its multi-disciplinary art installations.

Must-see booths include the one by AAF's chosen charity partner, John Fawcett Foundation. Try on a Virtual Reality (VR) headset which simulates cataract impairment, and attempt to create artwork under that condition. Named Catarart, this initiative aims to raise awareness and money -- through sales of artwork by artists who "gave up their eyesight" using VR -- for its sight restoration work in Indonesia.

Next is "Taking a nap, feet planted, against a cool wall", a video and sound installation by British artist Chloe Manasseh. It presents a deconstruction and remix of life in Singapore, and will incorporate live performances by musicians that are fully improvised, un-rehearsed and only in response to Chloe's video work.

And don't forget to pop by #Spotlight, a showcase of artists who have never shown at the fair before. Guests with children should visit Children's Art Studio by Art Wonderland,  a garden-inspired playspace for kids four to 12 years old.

There will be works from 70 galleries and 500 artists, 75 per cent of which are priced under $7,500. Visitors can expect a range of art froms, from paintings to sculptures and new media.
