Choosing a basin for your bathroom can be a daunting task. How do you know which designs suit your interiors and personal use best? Bathroom design experts at Econflo Systems give us a quick lowdown on the various types of basins and how each differs from the other.

1. Wall-hung basin
This basin is meant for small bathrooms with limited space. It is the most common type of basins available. Wall-mounted ceramic basins do not require a separate table or vanity counter to hold them in place. They are directly attached to the walls of your bathroom, so less floor space is taken up, while keeping the interiors looking bright and spacious.

2. Countertop basin
Recently, countertop basins are becoming increasingly popular. These sinks can either be mounted directly on top of the vanity top, or are semi-sunken. They are usually more costly, but are easy to install. Simply add a counter sturdy enough to hold the basin in place.

Counters can be made of wood, metal, glass, marble, granite, solid surfaces and composite materials. They create a luxurious and modern look that’ll fit into all bathroom styles.

3. Under-counter basin
As its name suggests, an under-counter basin is inset into the countertop. Regardless of its shape and size, this type of basin makes a great solution for those wanting more vanity and countertop space.

4. Semi-recessed basin
Fitted into a cabinet with only the front part of the basin protruding, a semi-recessed basin is carefully crafted to fit into ledges or shelves, making it look like a continuous part of the bathroom furniture. They can come in different shapes and designs, with rounded or angular edges. They’re ideal for any stylish, modern bathroom and can create a seamless look when incorporated perfectly with the design of your cabinetry.
