Modern Oriental Style
A grey leather sofa balances the Oriental Chinese theme with a touch of modernity and edginess.
Screen Book Shelf
The homeowner engaged interior designer Sam Wee of Mint Studio after seeing them elegantly execute the chinois style in an apartment in their portfolio. Sam designed the bookcase to be screened by two layers; clearing glass sliding panels and jute pull-down blinds.
Screen Door for Bathroom
The patterned screen leads to the powder room which was formerly the attached bathroom.
Chinese Lacquer Vanity
The Chinese lacquered vanity counter was adapted from a bookshelf and made by Just Anthony. The granite sink was custom made from Hainan Island black granite.
Bathroom Tiles
The designer cut man-made tiles into slender strips and set them like brickwork to give the bathroom an organic look.
Light Coloured Furniture
The interior designer recommended “skeletal, light coloured” furniture for the second floor to maintain the space’s sense of airiness.
Wood Flooring
A strip of wood flooring was replaced with white marble at the edge of the master bedroom, as the threshold is open to the elements.
