Answer: Stand-alone cupboards would definitely look chunky, so the solution is to custom-make a few key pieces of furniture that incorporate storage. This is pricier, but the overall effect will be more streamlined.

It’s all about making smart choices. Instead of getting a loose TV console, ask your designer to create a storage wall that incorporates space for a TV. Also, ask for a bench with storage beneath instead of just buying a lounge chair.

You’ll save time if your things are stored where you will use them. So, go for a dining table with drawers that can keep your cutlery and placemats at hand, and choose a bed that has drawers for your sheets – Ikea has a sleek bedhead with hidden drawers at the sides. The convenience and time savings definitely compensate for the extra cost.
