Bunk In
Question: My elder boy is too tall for the lower section of our bunk bed. Are there any bunk beds that suit teenagers?
Answer: Standard bunk beds are designed with young children in mind, hence the proportions. Thus, the solution would be to customise a set of beds to suit your growing boys.
If the ceiling height does not allow for stacked bunk beds, you can consider a staggered arrangement. Here, a section of the upper bunk is cantilevered out and away from the lower bed, opening up most of the space above the latter.
Being space-efficient, this arrangement also allows a study table or a wardrobe to be placed in the remaining space. Choose simple, neutral finishes so it won’t look childish. In this layout by White Space Living, the pale oak wood material and stylish bedding give a very grown-up ambience to the room. The total effect is definitely less claustrophobic for the child sleeping below!
