Twin Kitchens

Question: For my flat, i’d like an open dry kitchen by the dining area, and a heavy-duty one with a wok hob in the yard, near the washing machine. is that Okay?

Answer: The efficiency of your twin kitchen concept depends on your lifestyle. Your wet kitchen may be cramped as it is also a laundry area.
The question you need to ask yourself is: How often and what type of food do you cook? If your idea of cooking is to toast a sandwich or bake chicken, this layout is ideal. If you love whipping up curries, flying oil particles will stick to your freshly washed clothes. Furthermore, as some HDB layouts have a bathroom window that opens out to the yard, you might get grease over the window and stink up your bathroom. If this is the case, rethink your concept.
Alternatively, you can equip the dry kitchen with a single-unit gas burner or a sleek induction hob, and use the wok burner only infrequently. This would give you more flexibility and keep oily residue and cleaning-up duties to the minimum.
