The Best Interior Design in the World... is in Hong Kong!

+

The World Interior of the Year, as voted by an illustrious panel of judges at the recent Inside - World Festival of Interiors held in Singapore, is the MOTT32 restaurant by Joyce Wang Studio. The project, located in Hong Kong, beat out the best-of winners in nine interior categories to win the big prize.

Interestingly, the space used to be a storage facility, which once housed expensive family heirlooms for wealthy Chinese immigrants. Joyce Wang Studio has taken this underground space (which has no windows and no natural light), and transformed it into a theatrical, atmospheric den filled with industrial lighting fixtures and a dramatic colour scheme. Echoes of the Oriental treasures it used to hold is reflected in its traditional Chinese decor elements. The decision by the judges, it seems, was unanimous. See it for yourself, and be blown away by its inventive beauty.
