Cosy Cove
This is a problem many homeowners face when they get their keys to their new apartment - how do you turn a stark white interior into a welcoming abode? For architect Lim Ai Tiong, who worked on Mark Erhart and his wife Debbie's apartment at Sentosa Cove, the solution was to incorporate textural materials such as natural stone and wood veneer.
The transformation begins from the private lift lobby into the home. Gone are the plain white walls, which are now clad in a warm wood veener. Ai Tiong's trademark architectural features are also present as elements that help to pull the expansive living, dining and kitchen spaces together. The long wall that bridges the different areas was laid with grey granite slabs in a slightly rough finish, and staggered in three heights for added texture.
The final cost of the renovation came up to a six-figure sum, including the new lighting and furnishings. With their cosy confines settled, the couple looks forward to taking their time looking for accessories and soft furnishings to complete the look, and stamp their own distinctive personality on the interiors.
