For designer Riston Foo of Whiz Concepts, the usual all-white colour scheme was too sedate for Joan Yeo, the young owner of this small, two-bedroom flat, and her poodle Rusty. So bold, contrasting hues are used with a mix of rich material textures. In the dining area, walls and a ceiling covered in black-and-grey houndstooth-patterned wallpaper “create a lounge-y, laid-back ambience,” explains Riston. This is starkly contrasted with glossy white padded PVC panels studded with buttons, which are wrapped around corner walls and cabinet doors below the custom-made dining table.
