The brief, says designer Carol Sim from Frame Interior, was to dress up the 1,145sqf three-bedroom apartment in a modern-contemporary look with maximum storage. "And each family member had their own style ideas," she adds. "We had to incorporate these suggestions along with some of the homeowner's old furniture and family heirloom pieces into the new interiors."

The homeowners, Ben and Helen Ong and their two grown-up sons Marc and Matthias, had different style preferences. The parents desired a contemporary look, Marc liked a rustic style, while Matthias wanted colour. Carol and colleague Jacky Low were in for a design challenge.
