Being an interior designer, Isabelle Miaja believes in creating clean-lined and comfortable spaces. It is this same philosophy she applied when it came to designing her own home. The French-Spanish managing director of Miaja Design Group relocated to Singapore 13 years ago, and now lives in a sprawling rebuilt semi-detached house in Upper Bukit Timah with partner Martin van der Reijden, three children, two dogs and two rabbits.

The house sits amid lush greenery and Isabelle wanted to further augment the sense of openness where "the outdoor feels very much part of the living experience". To bring the view in, the living room was designed with windows opening to the garden and a patio for al fresco meals.

There is a sense of openness to the house, where the outdoors feels very much part of the living space.
