Singapore may be home to Hong Kong expat Polly Mak and her two preschoolers, but the young family brought a more cosmopolitan feel into their apartment.

To incorporate Polly’s beloved vintage pieces – cinema chairs from San Francisco, Shanghai rosewood chests and South-east Asian accessories – into a contemporary look, Karina Zabihi of KZ Designs proposed a Mexican fiesta of “rich details and bold colours”, like blue stair treads and orange feature walls.
