Urban Escape

Sarita Sies and her Slovak husband Michal Tyles wanted their Singapore home to appear as far away from the resort-style as possible. That’s because the couple is usually Bali-based, where they manage luxury boutique resort villas. “Michal calls this our weekend house,’ Sarita says of their newly-renovated conservation shophouse.
The couple commissioned designer Irene Toh of Spacious Planners to create their city retreat in a style that is part loft-inspired, part urban bohemian. While Irene worked on the renovation, Michal put his masculine yet artful touch to the decorating. “Michal has a very good eye,” Irene says. “He picked out the furniture and chose the artwork that would go with the house.”
