White Right

Designer Karina Zabihi knew exactly what she wanted when she did up her home – only white would do.
“I love white,” says Karina Zabihi, the half-Persian, half-English designer who runs her own interior decor company. “I find it a very creative colour. It’s like a blank canvas,” she adds.
With that in mind, she painted her walls white and decided on white concrete inlaid with fine stainless steel strips for the floors. The custom-made TV console, cabinets, walk-in wardrobe and coffee table that she designed are covered in silver oak veneer.
The monochromatic colour scheme is
balanced by the art pieces displayed around the house – even the bathrooms feature sculptures in spotlighted niches above the WC.
Like the living area, the master bedroom is also an airy expanse of white. With the room already bathed in sunlight, little was needed to add to its buoyant atmosphere. For visual and tactile interest, Karina introduced sheer, flowy fabric panels behind the bedhead, a canvas painting by her artist-brother, and a delicate ceramic wallpiece by Austrian artist Karin Schosser – all in white, of course.
