Rest easy
The Relax sofa set ($4,145) features built-in side tables - convenient for placing cups and such.
Furnishings store Carlo Hofmann places quality as one of its top priorities. Sofas are its specialty, upholstered in a range of luxe materials including leather, satin and cotton sateen. Its pieces are imported from Europe and Asia (and also manufactured under its own brand), so expect to find something just right for your living room in its new 2,600sqf showroom.

The shop's best-selling upholstery is Belgian fabric, famous for its durability and feel. "It's washable, so it'll last a long time," says marketing director Jacky Ho. High-density foam and springs to absorb shock, together with a solid oak structure also ensure these sofas last.

They are customisable, too - right down to the model, size and configuration. You can even choose to incorporate side tables or bookshelves into the armrests, creating spaces to place your cups and magazines within easy reach. An example is the signature Paloma sofa, with bookshelves nestled within its cotton sateen upholstery and comfy down filling.

Worried your guests or rambunctious kids might cause extra wear and tear? The store provides a generous 10-year warranty for sofa frames and a five-year warranty for foam fillings. With prices ranging from $1,500 for a two-seater modular fabric sofa up to $7,000 for a seven-seater, homeowners can rest assured Carlo Hofmann offers true value for money.
