A bright colour scheme may lift the mood of a room, but how do you manage that when style experts say it’s time for black?

Black + blue
Use a lighter blue to keep the combination fresh. Paint brand Dulux predicts its pale azure Marina Blue will be the colour of 2010 for its calming and optimistic vibe.

To highlight it, we used a dark nautical blue on the walls, contrasted with yellow-green accents. Black ties these colours together for a neat, modern look.
