While homeowners Mr. and Mrs. Hsu love the classical style, their children prefer simpler and modern designs. Interior designers Hao Design worked to find a balance between the two by including rounded archways and wainscoted walls (sans intricate cornices) with simply designed furniture.
Hao Design stuck to classic colours like black, white and grey, but plays around with textures and lines to keep things interesting.

The island, which now sits adjacent to the dining area, is clad in marble for a luxurious, refined finish. Complementing the look is white Shaker-style cabinetry, with brass handles and knobs that the couple sourced online through Etsy.
Part of the $200,000 renovation (including furniture and furnishings) went to renovating the master bathroom, for which the couple chose greyish blue tiles from Soon Bee Huat laid in a herringbone pattern.
