Cleaning tips: How to keep kitchen appliances clean

Keeping your kitchen appliances clean is important!

Usually, I dump the parts of my food processor into the dishwasher.

But I have decided to inspect all the parts as well.

Fairly clean, but you do need a small bottle brush to get into all the crevices. You can buy a teat brush, which is used to clean baby bottle teats, for this. Or use an old toothbrush.

Actually, a rinse after each use with a cup of warm soapy water, or equal parts of baking soda and water, would get rid of most of the gunk. But, of course, I tend to forget.

I should also do this periodically with my juicer and blender. Together with some lemon juice, it also gets rid of any remnant smell.

Do not forget to unplug each appliance before cleaning. And, yes, never use a metal skewer to get into crevices of these electrical appliances; it is safer to use just a bamboo stick.

And do not forget the exterior. Simply wipe down appliances with a damp cloth and that should get rid of most of the stains and gunk that are still stuck.

Otherwise, use a white "magic eraser" sponge - which is made of melamine foam - that removes stains like, well, magic!
