Scents are said to have therapeutic qualities, and more and more homeowners are buying scented candles for creating their desired environment, or simply to make their home smell nice. Scented candles can be expensive, depending on the materials used, such as the quality of wax and essential oils for the scents.

Make your investment last longer, with these simple candle care tips from Hush Candle. The local candle brand was started to make good quality candles affordable. They use only soy wax, instead of paraffin wax, which burns with less soot, and also therapeutic grade essential oils – the product is so natural, you can even use their candlewax as a moisturiser or massage oil!

Candle Care Tips

First Burn: Allow the wax to melt to the outer edges of the container for an even burn and maximum scent throw

Burn Time Per Session: Never burn a candle for more than four hours at a time.

Putting Candles Out: BLowing out a candle is not recommended. Instead, cover the candle with the lid, use a candlesnuffer or wick dipper.

Candle Storage: Keep out of direct sunlight ad store in a cool, dark place.

Wick: Trim your cotton wick to 1/4 inch with a wick trimmer before lighting.

Safety: Do not leave candles unattended, place away from children and pets, and ona  heat-resistant and stable surface.

Half-inch Rule: Discontinue use when there is 1/2 inch of wax left to prevent heat damage.
