The homeowners of this cosy two-bedroom condo unit decided to go for the black-and-white theme after a discussion with their interior designer Astley Ng of Soho Interiors + Studio Arc. "The couple wanted something modern but with more cosiness and colour, so I thought a black-and-white theme jazzed up with interesting decortive touches would work," explains Astley.
A large black shoe cabinet might have looked heavy and overbearing. So, a tinted mirror was fitted above it to give it a "floating suspended" feel.
The most prominent black-and-white design in the home is the feature wall leading to the master bedroom. The striped wall was created by spray-painting solid pieces of wood in black, then placing them a few centimetres apart from one another on the white wall.
The walk-in wardrobe is hidden by a curtain — a clever alternative to wardrobe door.
The spacious upholstered settee on a raised platform doubles as a cosy study corner, so there's no need for a "formal" study area or bulky desk.
The master bedroom is made warm and cosy with downlights and earthy hues. Cushion, from Lifestorey.
