French house Hermes is not only well known for the Birkin bag and equestrian leather goods – it’s also famed for its stunning visual merchandising and support for the arts. The brand’s store at Liat Towers houses Aloft, a space on the 3rd floor dedicated to the arts – and is one of only five Hermes stores around the world that has an exclusive art space.

Having previously hosted local artists such as Dawn Ng, the newest exhibition at Aloft is French artist Agathe de Bailliencourt’s Here from Here, a parallel project of the ongoing Singapore Biennale 2016.

Comprising individually hand-painted gravel, layered and arranged to form an abstract landscape of blue gradations, de Bailliencourt’s Here from Here references a Japanese Zen garden in its material and theme. A melding of French and Japanese? Consider us sold.

Here from Here is now open at Aloft at Hermes Liat Towers. It runs daily till 5 February 2017, admission is free.
