Singaporean Casey Chen looked to the skies for inspiration when it came to designing an espresso cup and saucer.

The artist-designer teamed up with Japanese porcelain manufacturer Miyama to create a cup with an egg-shaped base and cloud- shaped handle, which he has named Cloud. The saucer has blue dotted lines radiating from the centre. It symbolises the sky and pays homage to the shade of Peranakan blue.

Miyama, founded 39 years ago, is in Mizunami City in the Gifu prefecture, one of the most well-known porcelain-producing areas. The collaboration, which also involved Huls Asia Pacific, a creative company that supports Japanese businesses, celebrates 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Price: $89

Where: Go to cloudespresso.com to pre-order. Cloud is slated to arrive in the middle of the month.
