The owners of timber company Chip Lee Timber realised that homeowners will spend hours choosing the right wooden flooring for their home; from the timber’s grain patterns to its origins – every detail matters.

This is why the 40-year-old local brand launched Floorempire, a 2,100sqf showroom that is home to a wide and stylish array of timber flooring options, making the trek out to its far-flung location in Mandai worthwhile indeed.

Floorempire’s open-concept layout is organised into sections according to various functions, such as outdoor decking, staircase treads, and indoor flooring – this includes antibacterial vinyl flooring, solid wood from Indonesia and France, and affordable floor laminates. Soon, wall cladding will have a dedicated space on the mezzanine level.

Homeowners and designers can also use the long Suar wood bar counter to lay out material samples and see if they go with the flooring options in the showroom, over a cup of coffee.

Eileen Wong, manager of Sin Joo Lee – Chip Lee Timber’s parent company – recommends solid wood if you want unique design characteristics and longevity, or vinyl flooring if you need something durable, cost-effective and low-maintenance.

The sales staff are at hand to give design recommendations, too, including this handy tip: for an all-white, minimalist decor theme, go for a darker shade of wood for the floor.
