You will find a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city in Fynn’s — a modern Australian restaurant with an upscale beach resort vibe — at South Beach Avenue. With an inviting, rustic-luxe ambience, its Instagram-worthy interiors comprise lots of beautiful marble surfaces, honey-hued natural materials and brass-tone accents, as well as greenery to soften the space.
Chun Y. Gee of Gee Global, the multi-disciplinary branding and design consultancy behind the design of Fynn’s, tells that the look was inspired by a contemporary take on coastal design. The floor, finished with epoxy and stained blue, resembles the surface of a sparkling sea, while the white walls and floor-to-ceiling windows make the place light and airy. All the furniture, including the marble-topped tables and marble-clad counters, rattan-weaved chairs and fashionable lamps, were custom-made.
As for the food, there are both contemporary global flavours and classic favourites. Expect unique mixtures of flavours and textures in imaginative creations, such as the Tuscan kale salad ($19) with crispy kale, fennel, red radish, granola, and pomegranate vinaigrette, or wholesome mains, such as charred lamp ($23.50) with couscous, pumpkin mash, harissa and cucumber. Fynn’s is also prided on its delicious handmade pasta and home-baked cakes and pastries. Drinks-wise, cool down with a refreshing lemonade (we like the pineapple pink pepper, $7) or enjoy a coffee by Common Man Coffee Roasters, and more.
The casual, yet chic, all-day dining restaurant will make a great spot for a laid-back weekend brunch, but it also opens early at 9am on weekdays — great for those who work in the area and want a quiet breakfast before starting the day. Another draw is that it’s conveniently located near the exit of Esplanade MRT station, next to JW Marriott Hotel.
Fynn’s is at #B1-21 South Beach Avenue, 26 Beach Road, tel: 6384-1878, www.fynnsrestaurant.com.
