Most homeowners know Home-Fix as the store for DIY jobs. But now the home-grown chain has gone into selling furniture as well.

Its first brand is the French label Gautier. "Some people have asked me – where does a French furniture brand fit in Singapore," says Low Cheong Kee, CEO of Home-Fix. "You'd be surprised how perfect the products are for Singapore homes. Most offer space-saving solutions with clever built-in storage, and the style, though undeniably French, has universal appeal."

Gautier was founded by a husband and wife, who capitalised on France's baby boom in the 1960s, by producing imaginative children's bedroom furniture.

To this day, the beloved French furniture brand remains a family-owned business, and has retained its manufacturing headquarters in France. It now produces everything for the home from lounge and dining furniture to home-office furniture, soft furnishings and small décor items.

"Retailing furniture is a natural evolution for Home-Fix," says Mr Low. "We've always been the go-to brand for repairs and replacements during the maintenance phase of home ownership. Now we can be there right from the start, when couples are embarking on that fun part of choosing brand new 'everything', from the paint and flooring to the light fittings and furniture."

Visit Gautier at Space@Tampines 18 Tampines Industrial Crescent, #01-15.
