Home to a lawyer in his early 40s, this three-bedroom apartment boasts an unobstructed view of its Tanjong Katong neighbourhood.
Wanting to capitalise on his home’s million-dollar view, the bachelor recruited Quck Zhong Yi and Elisabeth Choo of Asolidplan to design an apartment that is not only oriented towards the view, but bears interiors that complement it.

Instead of a dark colour scheme typical of most bachelor pads, Zhong Yi and Elisabeth chose a balanced palette of black, white and gold for the home. The terrazzo flooring, too, is in sync with the palette, given its black, grey and gold chips.
Once enclosed, the kitchen was reconfigured as an open layout. The backsplash of the kitchen even reflects the view with its black tinted mirror.
Now connected to the dining and living space, the communal area of the home is enlarged and more conducive for entertaining guests.
Laminates are from EDL.
A gold lantern-like suspended centrepiece of the island bar conceals bottles. Drinks are mixed on the Noir St Laurent marble countertop with solid brass edging.
Lighting is from Sol Luminaire.
Two bedrooms were combined to create the expanded master bedroom. The greater space afforded the flexibility to orient both the bed and integrated desk behind it towards the view.
The designers delivered their client’s brief within a renovation period of three months, and a budget of $120,000.
