A HDB terrace home with European-inspired elements

With the help of interior design firm Sirius Art, this homeowner transformed his two-storey HDB terrace home into an eclectic castle of sorts that's packed with modern and classical aesthetics.

“Never buy sets,” advises homeowner, Ian, referring to sofa sets that come with armchairs in the same style. Instead, get an armchair in a different design or material, and make it a statement piece.

The Da Vinci armchair looks snug when paired with a furry throw.

A painting by an Australian artist creates a ‘window’ beyond the wall in the hallway.

Design tip: Ian calls his kitchen a luxury, with its huge island. Using an all-white theme paid off, for the kitchen looks larger, not to mention clean and pristine too.

Ian’s budget buys include this chic Ikea lamp, on a painted sideboard from British India, which he placed in the kitchen. Streamline any piece of furniture by giving it a coat of paint, like Ian did to his wooden cabinet from British India.

A lovely setting of pale-hued items.

A long crystal chandelier lights the way up the staircase to the bedrooms.

To carve out an en-suite master bathroom, Ian stole space from the guest room.
