Here's what the newly-opened The Fat Pig looks like!

WHAT: The Fat Pig,  a newly opened restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens. It was designed by London-based architecture and design practice, Michaelis Boyd Associates.

WHERE: Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

WHY WE LOVE IT: The restaurant gives the lively and vibrant Chinese dining culture a contemporary twist. Plus, it has a Jekyll and Hyde-type concept - an almost-grungy hangout on one side, and a modern casual dining on the other.

The Fat Pig declares its loyalty loud and proud. The signage is inspired by the rich history of Hong Kong's neon street signs.

The Fat Pig consists of a microbrewery and beer hall, bar area, and main dining room. The forest green and deep red banquettes feature plush leather seats, whereas the dining hall opts for a picnic-table setting. The restaurant's bespoke lighting and furniture uses a plethora of materials including brass, oak, marble and custom blown glass.

The open kitchen becomes the focal point for this side of the room, where the colour scheme has taken a dramatic turn for the dark and moody - thanks to the gloss emerald ceiling and the deep blues of the furniture. Here, there are spaces for both intimate and larger family-style meals.

On top of the cast pigmented concrete bar, is the custom made glazed lava stone top.  We love the stark contrast between this side of the room, and the other!
