House Tour: Great ideas for an effortlessly stylish and relaxed home

Nathan Yong, furiture designer and co-owner of Grafunkt, lets us into his cosy home in the East. Even though the house is rented (and will have to be restored to original condition after the lease), Nathan spared no expense in transforming the plain space into something welcoming and wonderful. We share this with you, so you gain insight into how small changes can make a big difference to your space!

Solid oak flooring was laid over the original floor tiles throughout the home, and the concrete pillar and beam in the living area was painted to resemble rusted steel.

The frosted window panels that come default with the house were replaced with clear ones to let more light into the home.

A plain wall is dressed up with a modular shelving system, allowing Nathan to display interesting objects for a personal touch.

Nathan chose these classic Ikea kitchen cabinets to match the home's colonial history, and gave it a classier touch by painting the originally chrome legs gold.

Matched with antique-style brass taps from a shop in Geylang, the bathroom vanity incorporates a standalone sideboard (specifically this one)! The walls also get a spash of bright teal, adding to the eclectic look of the space.
