Nautical but nice: Using red and blue together tastefully

This water-front home designed by Soho Design Partnership drew inspiration from its surroundings and gave the nautical theme a sophisticated twist.

A pair of plush armchairs upholstered in cobalt blue velvet adds character to a run-of-the-mill resort themed living space.

Play up the use of a strong colour by balancing out with soft textural finishings and light, soothing palettes.

While red may seem like an attractive colour on a swatch, choosing gentler shades like pastel pink and fuschia for your home might be a better option for a space that you need to experience everyday.

Instead of using primary red, turn to modern variations of it like salmon for a more updated accents.
