SHOP AT: The City Hall vicinity

In our previous installment of SHOP AT, we took you to Tan Boon Liat Building at Outram (read about it here). This time around, we encourage you to comb the City Hall vicinity! Wander out of the malls and walk through Seah Street, Purvis Street and North Bridge Road for a change. This list will take you through some interesting shops (and eating places) for an unique shopping experience!

Local outfit, Foundry, focuses on delivering craft furniture and accessories with a minimalistic touch. The company also works closely with a selection of international designers to create pieces that are contemporary, with an east-meets-west aesthetic. Foundry is a must-visit if you’re a fan of understated elegance. Read more about what's available at Foundry in our blog entry here.

Foundry is located at #01-01, 3 Seah Street, tel: 6339-6381.

P5 is a premium furniture retailer that stocks pieces from twenty notable brands such as Artek, Tom Dixon, and Yamagiwa. Housed in a white, colonial-style shophouse, the exterior hints towards the quiet glamour held within the open-concept show area. Don’t let that intimidate you from walking in, as P5 is a treasure trove for interesting statement pieces to bring home. Read more about what's available at P5 in our blog entry here.

P5 is located at #01-02/03, 5 Purvis Street, tel: 6337-0050.

As shopping whets the appetite, we had to include a few places to check out within the area for some good food, and respite from all that walking around.

The Halia is urban-chic restaurant that serves modern European cuisine with an Asian twist. Head there for brunch before your shopping adventure, or tuck in to their set lunch or dinner offerings depending on the time of the day you visit. We like that on their menu, they suggest which drink have alongside the main course of your choice!

The Halia is located at #01-22/23, Raffles Hotel Arcade
