PAINT IT GREEN

When it's time to touch up your walls, choose low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints found in most hardware stores. They may be slightly more expensive, but your health is worth the investment.

BRING ON THE BREEZE

Choose sheets and pyjamas that are light and airy, and you'll feel comfortable all night. Give the air-conditioner a break too. Opt for a fan as it uses less energy and so saves you money on your electric bill even as you sleep! When you can, open the windows and allow fresh air in to ventilate the room. Studies show that closed spaces contain concentrate toxins, making the air within sometimes more polluted than outdoors.

GO MINIMAL

Decorations attract dust and add clutter. Instead of buying decorations, display homemade crafts and hang personal photos to create a space that is beautiful and meaningful to you.

ENHANCE YOUR ROOM WITH NATURAL SCENTS

Make your own simple spray to give your room an all-natural scent. In a small spray bottle, add 20 drops of essential oil into 1/4 cup of water, then shake and spritz! Lavender promotes relaxation, while peppermint invigorates and peps you up in the morning.
