YDA is an annual program organised by luxury residential interior design studio Design Intervention. “For many of our local colleges, the taught curriculum focuses on commercial and hospitality design. At Design Intervention, residential design is our passion. We feel that by crafting people’s homes, their personal spaces, we can have the most impact: we can literally improve lives,” say Design Intervention partners Nikki Hunt and Andrea Savage.

YDA 2020’s design brief is simple. Design a 3,000 sq ft apartment for a multigenerational family. No budget given and students have the freedom to choose their own design theme. Entries will be judged by an esteemed industry experts on the clarity of the design concept, originality and innovation, functionality and practicality, quality of visual presentation, and the complexity of the colour palette.
