1. Always wash your hands before preparing food (rub hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds).
  2. Wash your hands after using the toilet, handling raw food, throwing rubbish, cleaning, coughing and sneezing.
  3. Cover any open wounds or cuts you have on your hands with Band-Aids.
  4. Do not prepare food on the floor, near the toilet, or near anything which might contaminate the food (such as the kitchen bin).
  5. Use separate chopping boards, knives and utensils to handle cooked and uncooked food, as well as different types of food, such as seafood, meat, and fruit and vegetables.
  6. Clean chopping boards between each use.
  7. Clear your kitchen bin when it is three-quarters full.
  8. Clean up any spills immediately.
  9. Cover any exposed cooked food.
  10. Wash and disinfect your dishcloths, hand towels, and sponges regularly.
