Keep common problem areas free of allergy – and infection-causing mould and mildew – the ugly black or yellow fungal spores that thrive in damp, warm places.

Grouting and sealant around baths, sinks and showers:
Spray with a bleach solution, leave it for half an hour, then scrub with a brush and rinse clean. Remove mould on sealant by wiping once with vinegar, then again with a paste of bicarbonate of soda, and finally wiping clean.
Soak overnight in a mild bleach solution, or scrub with a paste of bicarbonate soda.
Washing machine detergent dispenser:
Remove from the washing machine and soak in a hot solution or scrub with a paste of bicarbonate of soda.
Rubber and plastic gaskets around refrigerator gaskets around refrigerator doors:
Dampen a thin cloth in cold bleach solution and wipe well, using either a toothbrush or cloth wrapped around a chopstick to scrub the grooves. Wipe clean.
