Describe your personal design style.

I don’t think I identify with any personal style as I prefer constant evolution and exploration rather than following trends or inertia especially when it comes to design.

Tell us about your fondest memory as a child.

Going on safaris during my growing up years in Africa, the wide open spaces , the wild animals and the smell of rain when it hits the earth.

Name one of your favourite pets (dead or alive) and why you love it.

My pet dog Jack, a crossbreed of a German shepherd and a golden retriever. Brave and fiercely loyal but full of fun, loved to play football, and was the best goalkeeper we had.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

Attitude is more important than ability.

Rengy John, Managing Partner at BLINK Design Group

What is your guilty pleasure?

An amazing spaghetti carbonara finished off with a delightful creme brulee.

What inspires you the most?

I really enjoy working with young passionate designers who are not afraid to ask questions and try new ideas.

Name one cause you will fight for and why.

We need environmental sustainability and renewable energy in the hospitality and construction industry, there needs to be more growth and awareness in this area.

Name one style that you hate and never want to see again.

I don’t particularly hate any style but maybe bell-bottom pants are something we can do without for a while.

What would you like to have as your last meal on earth?

A beautiful wagyu beef steak, made to perfection, preferably at CUT by Wolfgang Puck.

Which room in the house do you spend the most time in and why?

My study right now as we are forced to work from home due to the pandemic.

Name one movie that you have watched more than once, and why?

The Last of the Mohicans, it’s an incredible epic with beautiful cinematography, acting and an amazing soundtrack.

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to try but have never summoned the courage to?

It’s a tie between scuba diving and skydiving.

What is one thing you had to learn the hard way?

Never send out important emails at night, always in the morning after a good night’s rest and a cup of coffee which always brings the best ideas forward.

What are you currently reading?

I used to read books while travelling. With that having stopped, I am usually reading online articles, mainly on hospitality, design, politics and world events. I’m currently fascinated by the Pentagon release of previously classified information on UFOs.

What’s one thing you’d like to happen this year?

I truly hope travel resumes in Southeast Asia.

What are the three things you can’t live without?

I love my car, my amazing Galaxy Fold 2 and a comfortable pair of loafers.
