WHAT: M Social, a 293-room boutique hotel by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels. It was designed by renowned French designer Philippe Starck. It is also a part of an integrated development which includes UP@Robertson Quay.

WHERE: 90 Robertson Quay, overlooking the Robertson Quay enclave.

#1 It's tech-savvy

M Social is the first hotel in the country to offer a self-check-in kiosk in the lobby! And each room comes with a complimentary smartphone amenity, pre-loaded with a city guide and an unlimited data usage which you can use in the hotel and when you're out an about. You can also make free phone calls both locally and internationally.

(Take a tour of M Social below!)

#2 Beast & Butterflies is interactive and stylish.

Beast & Butterflies is a diner and bar, with an open-concept kitchen.

These modern chandeliers have in-built projectors, flashing psychedelic images to keep the space funky and vibrant.

Love the tiles! It's a design feature which really stood out, despite the other unique elements of the space. You'll also see that M Social is not a place to shy away from prints, pattens, and pashmina throws.

A number of iPads line the walls. They will be switched on to display the restaurant menu throughout its opening hours.

Yes, to borrow an internet slang, those tables are lit!

The rows and rows of bulbs will light up – according to the energy of the room. The more people surround the table, the brighter the area will be.

#3 The rooms (and other spots around the hotel) have quirky design features!

Literally, a book lamp.

The house-shaped ceilings is an homage to the iconic roofs of Roberston Quay shophouses.

There are four main room types at M Social: Nice, Nicer, Big and Bigger. Only Nicer and Bigger have an outdoor terrace.

While Beast & Butterflies are vibrant and happening vibe, the M Social rooms take on a more snug, relaxed, and loft-style look and feel. The rooms also have generous ceiling heights of up to 5m.

The view of the terrace. Not pictured here are the relatively low fences between neighbours; M Social wants hotel-goers to mingle and talk to other guests.

Garden arches, comfy sunbeds, and a long pool – that's all you need for a picturesque, relaxing weekend. Start booking now. It officially opens this June 2016.
