You probably already know of Kilo in Kampong Bugis, Lavender by the Rochor River, and now the brand has expanded to include an urban "campsite" called Camp Kilo Charcoal Club. It occupies the ground floor of an industrial building, previously the premises of Loysel's Toy cafe.
You can't really describe it as a restaurant or cafe, because of its unique concept and dining is entirely al fresco — just like a campsite. Only the kitchen is located inside!
The place has been designed to look very "makeshift", with a colourful container box on site, structures finished with metal siding, and durable loose furniture made of metal and wood that can be easily moved around. Finishing touches include lanterns and logo flags. Also, the menu is written out on a roll of drawing paper.
Something really cool is the spit roast!

Enjoy freshly roasted meat, such as roasted pig ($12 per 100g), roast chicken ($10 for half and $18 for a whole), crispy pork belly ($10 per 100g) and pork ribs ($15 for half rack and $30 for full). The sides to complete the meal are also delicious. Try the deep fried brussel sprouts ($14), burnt carrots ($14) and chipotle corn furikake ($14)!
And don't forget the s'mores, an integral part of every camping experience! S'mores cheesecake ($8) is one of the sweet treats available.
The media kit given at the preview. Just thought it was a nice touch, in keeping with the theme!
Enjoy the campsite-like feel on Friday evenings and weekends! That's when Camp Kilo Charcoal Club is open — the best time to just unwind and relax after a long week.
