4 amazing HDB home transformations you will want to show your ID

Home makeovers are fun to see, but more importantly they show the miraculous transformations a space can go through when you put in some TLC and work with the right interior designer. The following four home reveals are by local interior design studio The Minimalist Society.

Okay, this kitchen nook actually doesn’t look that bad. Here at Home & Décor, we’ve actually seen some really appalling ones (thankfully, we kept them all from you). But It can be a problem when you, as a new homeowner, inherit an existing set-up from the previous owner. What’s bad about it is that you often tend to restrict yourself from thinking of better ways to utilise the space because common logic will make you want to follow what the previous owner did with the space. So how can we transform this dull looking spot?

image

By opening up the area with the use of a glass partition, and moving the sink further back, the space is extended! Also, the use of white tiles and white cabinetry make the narrow kitchen instantly look bigger, brighter and cleaner!

What can you do when you have tired-looking cabinetry that’s falling apart? One way to go about it is to tear it all out and start from the ground up.

Again, the use of white cabinetry makes the room look wider. In addition, replacing the top cabinets with a nice kitchen hood also creates a homely atmosphere. The addition of a wooden texture for the backsplash completes the look perfectly.

Okay, so what can you do with a small living room that connects to a smaller kitchen area? The immediate solution here would be to hack the wall away and turn the space into a large living area right? But wait for the reveal…

image

Not only did the design team open up the kitchen area, they also added mirrors along one side of the house and a dance pole because the homeowner is a pole-dancing enthusiast!

This may be one of the best transformations yet, a dark and dank looking space that must have seen better days. Most house viewers would have passed on this apartment altogether. But that's where some foresight and a good design vision helps…

By adding some spots of bright crimson orange in the kitchen, along with a glass partition, the space is now an open and airy kitchen with all the key equipment! So there you go, never underestimate the potential of any space simply from its looks. With a bit of work any room can end up looking like a million bucks!
