Since they shared a favourite colour between them, the owners of this two-storey, three-bedroom condominium, Darren Sabom and Sharon Siah, went ahead and painted their kitchen blue. The colour is also used to distinguish the different spaces of the house, as seen by the juxtaposed warm wood tones of the living room.
Darren wanted an open-concept kitchen so the original walls between the kitchen and powder room were torn down.
The kitchen island is the couple's favourite part of the home as it doubles as a dining and work space. The kitchen island sports a Caesarstone London Grey countertop.
Their interior designer, William Ng from Studio Wills + Architects, added gold handles to contrast with the rich blue shade of the full-height kitchen cabinets.
Their bedroom on the second level features a few of the many brass fixtures in the home, such as this beside reading lamp, which Darren hand-carried back from the US.
You may recognize him as the de facto face of fashion in Singapore, but Daniel Boey's home, too, certainly has got its best face forward.
Daniel occupies one-half of two semi-detached houses that he shares with his parents, where, after working with architect Tan Li Chiat of TLCA Architects, he created his dream home.
As one can tell from his living room, Daniel dislikes clutter. Statement pieces like the sputnik lamps and painting by Indonesian artist Dani King Herianto keep the space far from drab.
Like the previous home, Daniel used blue – in this case, a teal shade – to tie together all the colours that different parts of his home are painted in. Because it is a unifying colour that matches the 'Cartier red' and 'Hermes orange' of the other rooms, it serves as an anchor and prevents the look of the home from being 'rojak'.
Daniel's room is actually in the basement – spacious and private, he refers to it as his “man cave”.
His bedroom and dressing room are characterised by vibrant colours and patterns. He's not fully satisfied with it though; he calls it a 'work-in-progress'.
All three bathrooms on each floor of his house share a singular flooring style and pattern, in this black-and-white theme.
