1. DIY Driftwood Jewelry Organiser
Find a nice piece of driftwood. Use a screwdriver to make some holes in the wood, then screw the hooks in. To secure it onto the wall, attach string onto both ends of the driftwood as you would a frame, and mount it on. Better yet, paint some designs on it for a more luxe aesthetic.
2. DIY Twine Lanterns
Blow up some balloons to your desired size, than coat it in vaseline. Mix glue, cornstarch and warm water in a large container, coat twine in the mixture, then start draping it around the balloon. Once dry, pop the balloons (the vaseline prevents it from sticking to the twine).
3. DIY Rustic Furniture
Rope-wrapped designs add warm, rustic charm to anything in the home. For fail-proof ideas, try cabinet handles, bins and lamps.
4. DIY decorative wall hooks
Unsightly wall hooks ruining your home's aesthetic? Try hunting for decorative ones like these, and amp it up further by hanging a frame around it for an expensive, elegant look.
5. DIY kitchen spice jar storage
Attach strong magnets to the lids of your spice jars as well as the underside or side of your kitchen cabinet, and there you have a DIY spice storage that's functional (no more having to reach to the back of the cabinet for the cumin) and decorative!
6. DIY statement wall art
For elaborate paint designs that are actually incredibly easy, a little tape goes a long way. Simply tape on your desired design on the wall, paint over the entire wall, and remove the tape once the paint is semi-dry. It's a trick even wall painters themselves use to achieve clean lines!
7. DIY marbled ornaments
Reuse your Christmas ornaments to make these timeless decorations. In a tub of room temperature water (if it's too cold, the polish will sink; if it's too warm, the polish will be too sticky), pour nail polish of your desired colours gently into the water and lightly stir it to make it marble. Dip the ornament balls into the water and swirl, and hang to dry.
8. DIY Statement Pom Pom Pillow
Simply get a ton of pom poms (the more colourful the better!) and glue them to an old pillow case, covering every inch of it. Tip: Spread the pom pom open to fix it to the pillow as close to the centre of the pom pom (rather than just the outer bit of yarn) as possible, and glue the pom poms to each other as well, to attach them more securely in place.
9. DIY cosy teepee
This one requires a bit of drilling and craftwork, but it's more than worth it. After drilling and screwing the dowels in place (make sure the back poles are wider than the front to create a tent-like feel inside), simply drape the dust sheet around the strcture and staple it at the top. Add cushions and throws inside to make it a cosy playspace for your little one.
10. DIY Statement Door
For a subtle pop of colour that makes a statement, paint the side of your door instead of the face itself.
