Frette’s CEO Filippo Arnaboldi on luxury in the bedroom

Nobody does decadent bedlinen like the 160-year-old Italian bedding brand – here’s why.

by Melody Bay  /   March 8, 2022

Sleeping in sumptuously silky sheets is a universal luxury that transcends time, place, and language – a fact that Italian bedding brand Frette knows all too well, having supplied such decadent bedlinen to luxury hotels and homes since 1860. The brand has even graced the altar of St. Peter’s Basilica, the Orient Express, and the residences of more than 500 European royal families.

With the opening of the Frette store at Marina Bay Sands, discerning homeowners in Singapore can now experience the services that the Frette shopping experience is known for, and bring home the finest linens that the world can offer. We chat with Filippo Arnaboldi, the CEO of Frette, who shares his thoughts on the brand’s journey, his definition of luxury, and upcoming trends for the bedroom.

What changes have you seen in the consumer attitude towards luxury bedding these days?

The pandemic has brought a focus to the home. In recent years we have found that all over the world, our clients are investing in their homes and are focused on creating relaxing spaces that bring comfort to the forefront of their linen choices. We also find that many are more open to investing in quality products, and this appreciation for premium luxury products is bringing them to Frette.

From fabric, finish, to feel, our customers appreciate what Frette linens bring to their homes. Exceptional design is also extremely important to our customers – from their homes to their wardrobes, they lead design-led lifestyles and share this passion for design with Frette. They tend to appreciate travel and as such, they experience Frette through their luxury hotel and resort stays.

Incomparable quality is appreciated and valued by our clients. They understand the value of true craftsmanship and very much want to bring that into their homes.

What are the upcoming trends you see for the bedroom in 2022 and beyond?

With travel still being uncertain, recreating our homes to replicate our favourite vacations is an uprising trend we have noticed. Offering a relaxing and refreshing experience of masterfully crafted bed and bath linens, chic home accessories, cosy loungewear pieces and a beach capsule, Frette is going beyond the bedroom to elevate our client’s lifestyle. Each piece has been thoughtfully designed and curated to bring a touch of luxury wherever you go.

Bringing 160 years of exceptional design know-how and craftsmanship to this season’s collections, styles are meticulously designed to transcend trends. Introducing fresh colours for the season Citrine and Celestine, complemented by staple hues White, Natural and Milk. Frette’s collections are known for elevating spaces with masterfully crafted linens and decorative accessories of unparalleled quality.

What, in your opinion, is the definition of true luxury at home?

We believe that true luxury at home begins with thoughtfully creating a sanctuary where we get rest and seek unparalleled comfort with the highest quality products that elevates the bedroom experience of every style. Frette’s products upgrade our client’s lifestyles with timeless pieces that last for generations to come.

Bedroom linens are highly personal and while many believe that thread count matters when considering the best fabric for bed sheets, we know otherwise in the world of fine linens.

At Frette, we determine the quality of bed linens according to the 3 F’s; fibre, finish and feel. The weave of the fibre, the finish of the material and the way the fabric feels on your skin. Together, you can select exceptionally comfortable bed linens that suite your preferences. Some prefer to be wrapped in soft, silky sheets like cotton sateen, while others prefer crisp, airy linens like cotton percale.

Would you be able to share with us any upcoming expansion or collaboration plans for Frette?

Frette is expanding its presence into the Asia Pacific region with recent openings in Singapore, Vietnam, and China.

We are also looking at expanding our collections to continue to build upon our lifestyle experience. We are known for our bed and bath linens and will continue to innovate in those areas while looking for opportunities to bring our focus to our other product categories that bring Frette to homes around the world.
