H&D Hotlist #034: New design products, furniture and home accessories
REVIEW: Bose SoundSport Free
Get unknotted: The Bose SoundSport Free is a pair of wireless earbuds designed for hassle-free use during workouts or daily commutes.
Out of the box : Each of the 2.8cm-high earbuds houses an antennae system that connects the two with each other, and also to the device it is paired to. Before using, you need to download the Bose Connect App, which works like a remote control. It allows you to connect to the earbuds via Bluetooth, check their battery life and locate them if misplaced with the “Find My Buds” feature. The earbuds come in a sleek matte case that is also a charging unit. They are securely held within their magnetic slots and last up to five hours when fully charged, with the charging case providing two additional full charges.
User experience : We put the earbuds to the test on a 15km cycling trip to East Coast Park. Once worn, they did not budge. They also felt comfortable. The battery lasted far longer than expected, and Bluetooth connection was stellar even from a 9m distance.
The Bose SoundSport Free retails at $319 at authorised Bose dealers. Find out more at www.bose.sg.
Best Vase Forward
Vases have long lent a supporting role to flowers, literally and figuratively, while the blooms stole the show. Vase designs are no longer playing second fiddle and are now making a statement. We love the cool options like moulded earthenware, to a designer piece that allows individual flowers to be stylishly displayed.
Quandro Flower Vase, $89 each, from Atomi.
Pinocchio Vase 2.0 by Kimu, $135, from Bibliotek.
Fritz Hansen Ikebana vases, from $145, from W.Atelier.
Industriell terracotta vase, $29.90, from Ikea.
Sustainable glass carafe
Enjoy clean, filtered water in style with the Soma glass carafe, designed to look like a classy drip coffee flask. The Soma carafe comes in a shatter-resistant, borosilicate glass body, topped with a BPA-free plastic cone and lid. Aside from dirt particles, the replaceable, plant-based biodegradable filter also removes chlorine, zinc, copper and mercury from your water. Part of the price also goes towards helping water-scarce communities get access to clean water supply, ensuring that you do good while living well at the same time.
The Soma glass carafe retails for $79.90 at major department stores. Visit soma.com.sg.
The Great Outdoors
Versatile outdoor furniture makes perfect sense when you want to take advantage of our balmy tropical weather for an afternoon under the sun. We love Janus et Cie’s latest Hatch range, a teak collection of chairs and lounges designed as an ode to sailing, by Michael Vanderbyl. Sustainably grown premium teak is crafted to replicate the traditional hatch of yachts, and paired with a sleek frame finish to reference the gleaming masts.
