Furnishing and decorating a large space to make it engaging and lived-in can prove a challenge, but for interior designer Ivan Teo of Haire Living, who accepted the task to furnish this 4,200 sq ft (390 sqm) penthouse in the Novena area, it was just another day’s work.
Private lift lobby design
The entrance from the private lift was too roomy, so the firm decided to create a “library” with large, open shelves as the prelude to the living room.
Living room
Step into the living room, and a soothing palette of creams, browns and white greets you.
Dimmable alcove lighting provides warmth and cosiness at night, but the floor-to-ceiling glass panels on the opposite side allow natural light to flood the space in the daytime.
4 Metre Dining Table
As the dining hall was unusually long, the 4.3metre long table had to be customised, as well as the matching dining chairs, all of which were designed by interior designer, Ivan.
Above the table is the uncommonly seen Barrisol material – a brand of stretchable fabric used to clad the lighting structure to create diffused illumination.
Master Bedroom
The cosiest space has to be the master bedroom. The white king-sized Dragonfly bed by Roberto Lazzeroni for Flexform Mood provides the perfect contrast to the dark feature wall.
Bedroom feature wall
The feature wall here is made even more dramatic as a result of its border of alcove lighting, which create a “floating” effect for the dark panel.
