Being avid art collectors, the homeowners turned the spacious living area of their three-and-a-half storey conservation house into a comfortable den, with the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf facing the sofas, huge art on the walls, and ornaments displayed in neat rows on every raised surface.
This view from the third floor stairwell shows how the homeowners had the interiors transformed into a modern white box with the help of Randy Chan of Zarch Collaboratives.
In the master bedroom, a large painting by Shanghainese painter Hong Zhu An hangs over the headboard.
When creative director Joy Loo of Waff was hired to do up this three-bedroom apartment at Queen Astrid Gardens, her design plan had to take into account the owners’ collection of artworks they wanted to display. They had amassed a collection of contemporary works by British and German artists, as well as local art pieces and those from Myanmar.

One of the design problems that faced Joy was the awkwardly positioned pillars. After works were complete, the wall separating the kitchen and the dining area now ends in an elegant curve, complementing the sophisticated look of the home.

The grey palette used in the living room helps to keep the focus on the artworks.
About $300,000 was spent on renovations and the resultant look prominently features the owner’s proud art collection.

When visitors enter freelance writer Joseph Lim's four-room flat in Bedok, they are greeted by a brightly-lit corner framed by a Lichtenstein Pop Art print at the foyer.
A long-time design writer, Joseph has cultivated an appreciation for good design, and has been collecting furniture, curios and artworks for his home.
With the help of a contractor, Joseph designed a feature wall that has both closable shelves for storage, and open shelves for display of classical porcelain busts and ceramic wares.
One of the bedrooms was converted into a dining space that's packed with vintage furniture and classic lighting designs. On the far side of the room, a large Mondrian piece sits, and Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon hangs on the adjacent wall.
Contrasting the soothing earth tones of the bedlinens and teal wall is this blown-up Campbell’s Soup Can by Andy Warhol in Joseph’s master bedroom.
