4-Bedroom Condo, Robertson Quay
This 1,700 sq ft, four-bedroom condo apartment in Robertson Quay has a canvas of neutral tones such as whites and creams, punctuated with bright, refreshing colours in the form of patterned material finishes on the soft furnishings, as well as art pieces.
Total Renovation Cost: $300,000
Designed by Wendy Smith of Design Intervention, renovation of the home of a couple and their two young daughters cost $200,000, not including furniture, which cost an additional $100,000.
The sumptuous living area is furnished with a large U-shaped cream-coloured sofa, accented with throw cushions of tropical floral motifs, and a high-pile rug with a striking geometric print.
The green hue selected for the cushions, chairs, walls and rug helped bring in the foliage and tropical feel of the outdoor landscaping.
Dining Room
Stepping out of the private lift into the apartment, classic-style dining chairs upholstered in a textile with an oversized ikat print come into view, and set the tone for the stylish home.
Bedroom
Hints of gold in the textured wallpaper give the room an intimate feel. Touches of claret and rose were added for visual contrast, and crystal chandeliers brought glamour into the space.
Master Bathroom
After combining two bathrooms to create a larger master suite with a walk-in wardrobe, Wendy had space to accommodate a free-standing clawfoot tub.
Peranakan Mid-Century Home
This 20-year-old house was given a new lease of life after being bought over by new owners.
Its former dull black, grey and white tones were replaced with vibrant red, orange, yellow, turquoise and mint – thanks to its colour-loving owner, Sharon, and interior designer, Raymond Seow of Free Space Intent.
Styles such as retro and Mid-Century Modern sit happily alongside Peranakan and contemporary designs. Items on coffee table from Teak & Mahogany. Sofa throw from Foundry.
Retro Kitchen
Red and yellow feature heavily in the kitchen, and the hexagonal tiles behind the stove add a contemporary element to the space.
Peranakan Tiles
This Peranakan mirror was from Sharon’s previous home. The brick wall, as well as the Peranakan tiles, enhance the style’s old-world theme.
Sharon loves her dressing room – the hand-painted tiles from Vietnam are one of her favourite features in the home.
Master Bedroom
The master suite is one of Sharon’s favourite rooms. Raymond designed the bedhead, which Sharon interprets as classical Chinese. The sideboard has Chinese characters which symbolise marriage.
