The Tower Wing of the Shangri-La hotel in Singapore was refurbished in 2018 with family-friendly amenities that welcome and give special attention to children.
Known as the Tower Wing Family Floor, rooms on the ninth floor are designed to accommodate families and children 12 years old and below. Guests have a choice of five Themed Family Suites and 19 Deluxe Family Rooms.
Each Themed Family Suite is 775sqf, with the parents’ and children’s bedrooms connected by a tunnel.
The five available themes of the Themed Family Suites are safari, treetop, castle, underwater and space.

The Deluxe Family room rates start at $600 while the Themed Family Suite start at $1,500 (in 2018 upon launch).
In case parents require any children’s furniture and equipment, the hotel has even taken care to stock up on amenities such as strollers, high chairs and car seats from Norwegian children furniture brand Stokke.
In order to engage children in play, the hotel has also introduced Buds by Shangri-La, an interactive indoor and outdoor play space located on the first floor.
Thoughtfully segmented according to age, the indoor play space has a Toddler zone for children under 4 years old and their parents, and an Explorer Zone for children above 4 years old.
Kids can have a go at the ball pit in the Explorer zone…
Or have a more tactile experience in the sand pits.
There are also themed activity spaces for more focused learning, such as Bake, a fully equipped cooking classroom for children and parents.
Creative kids can hone their artistic craft at Muddy, a themed space for art. Asked about the new changes, Director of Communications at Shangri-La hotel Dora Tan said, “With the family experience, Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore is a more than just a travel destination – but also a place where guests are respected, as a business leader and family member.”
