1. The most common method: Painting your walls

Transform a bland room into an inspiring kitchen instantly with an energetic palette of citrusy shades like yellow and green, or create a more cosy and laidback look with neutral earthy tones like taupe and beige.

2.  The minimal-mess method: Replacing cupboard handles

At the price of a few dollars, swapping out drawers and cupboard handles can transform your ordinary cabinets into a feature that wows. For a classic look, consider warmer metals like brass or brushed nickel. If you want something more contemporary, go for cooler metals like steel.

3. The minimal-commitment method: Painting window or door frames

If you’re nervous about painting your walls a bold colour, try smaller areas such as window frames. Accents of deeper shades like navy or violet will create a sophisticated feel while bright colours like red or lime green will perk up the room, creating a more cheerful feel.

4. The straightforward method: Painting your kitchen cabinets

The cabinets would have received more wear and tear than the kitchen walls. Paint your cabinets a neutral tone like beige and white for versatility and metallic shades like grey for a modern look.

4. The often-overlooked method: Painting the inside of your cupboards

An unexpected splash of colour in a small space like this will be effective but not overbearing. Yellow will put a smile on your face, and white can open up the space. Top tip: Enhance the look by removing the doors of your overhead cupboards to create open and colourful shelves.
